An Italian model recently shared that he was let go from his job at this year's Met Gala, alleging that his striking appearance overshadowed Kylie Jenner.

Eugenio Casnighi, who had been a familiar face at the Met Gala, serving as a greeter for the past two years, will not be returning for a third.

In a recent TikTok post, the 26-year-old model claimed his removal from the employee roster at the Met Gala was due to the buzz he generated at the 2023 event due to his looks.

"The Met Gala fired me," Casnighi announced at the start of his TikTok video.

He then displayed a photo of himself positioned next to Jenner at the 2023 Met Gala, asking viewers: "Remember me?" as he highlighted the memorable photo.

The video cut to a scene where Emma Chamberlain was interviewing Blackpink's Jennie Kim, with Casnighi visible in the background, performing his duties.

An observer filming the event was captivated by Casnighi’s appearance, and the camera soon shifted focus from Chamberlain to a close-up of Casnighi.

You may recall that this footage became widely popular last year, accompanied by a caption that read: "Trying to focus on Emma interviewing Jennie but..."

Casnighi explained that he had been unable to speak about the incident previously because he was allegedly bound by a non-disclosure agreement.

"Now that they've fired me, I can say whatever I want," he remarked, indicating a shift in his ability to discuss the matter.

He continued, stating that the organizers of the Met Gala blamed him for the attention he received.

"They blamed me," he said. "They told me, 'you made it about yourself, so we don't want to work with you anymore.'"

"They informed me today that they've cut ties with me. They let me go because I went viral last year," he added.

Casnighi also reflected on last year's event, noting: "It's ironic because the Met Gala and the company, which I won't name... they hire models for the red carpet.

"They want people to be noticed. They even told me, 'we picked you because we like you more than other people.'

"Yet, when I ended up in photos next to a major celebrity like Kylie Jenner, it seemed to cause a problem."

The response on TikTok has been overwhelmingly supportive of Casnighi, with many users rushing to comment in his defense.
