Man Arrested After Hopping Into Alligator Enclosure In Florida
After jumping into the alligator enclosure at Busch Gardens in Florida, a guy was detained.
According to reports, 20-year-old Jacob Pursifull jumped two fences to get close to the hazardous reptiles, endangering his own life and possibly adding to the alligators' already significant amount of stress.
Prior to visiting the gator habitat on June 1, according to the police, Pursifull and two other individuals visited Busch Gardens.
While Pursifull himself scaled the fences to enter the alligator enclosure, one of his companions held the camera.
Unwisely, Pursifull then posted the video on a number of social media platforms, which, according to police, made it easier for them to find and identify him before they were able to apprehend him on Monday (5 June).
In the video, the suspect can be heard pointing at the crowd and saying, "Another wild Karen, crikey!"
He got shouted at by someone in the crowd to leave the enclosure, and another warned him that it was extremely risky.
That's for sure, it is.
Vernon Yates, the creator of Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, echoed that idea as well.
"He is nothing that anybody should look at, ‘Wow, that was cool,’ because that wasn’t.”
"That was stupid."
He continued: "There was no sign of animal respect there, because if he understood that if one of those animals would have grabbed him, they would’ve killed the animal, and I think that’s a big part that most people don’t understand, that when these kinds of animals hurt somebody, they become dead animals.”
As Yates continued, the situation might have been far worse for both the animals and the intruder: "To the scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst, he’s an 11 on what he did wrong, and there’s no way you can say to love and respect animals, and you do something that stupid.”
Theme park representatives told Fox News that the intruder scaled two fences to enter and disregarded many warning signs and obstacles along the way.
They added that no persons or animals were hurt because the security and animal care personnel came in swiftly.
According to a Busch Gardens statement: "We are thankful to hear that the individuals involved in illegally entering one of our animal habitats recently have been arrested and are facing charges for their dangerous actions.”
"The safety and well-being of our guests, ambassadors, and animals is a top priority, and we are very grateful to law enforcement, particularly the Tampa Police Department and their law enforcement partners, for their swift action."
Trespassing, burglary, and theft of services are the alleged crimes against Pursifull.
