Many people harbor a deep-seated fear of being buried alive, but very few can say they have actually experienced it and lived to tell the tale.

However, one unfortunate individual in Moldova now knows this terror all too well.

He endured the horrifying ordeal of being buried alive for four long days before being miraculously rescued by police from his makeshift grave.

This disturbing event unfolded in Ustia, a quiet village located in northwest Moldova.

The situation began when local police discovered a 74-year-old woman dead in her home.

Her body showed clear signs of foul play, including various physical injuries, indicating a violent end.

The investigation quickly led to the arrest of their main suspect, an 18-year-old man who was heavily intoxicated at the time.

This young man was a relative of the deceased woman. While they were at his residence, the officers heard faint, muffled screams coming from his yard.

Despite no other signs of life being evident, the sounds persisted.

Their efforts paid off when they unearthed a 62-year-old man in severe distress, suffering from a neck wound.

This man had been buried alive, and his survival for four days in such conditions seemed almost impossible at first glance.

Experts generally agree that being buried alive would typically lead to suffocation within five hours.

However, a video released by Moldovan police on May 15th revealed that the man had been entombed in a makeshift bunker rather than a traditional coffin.

This bunker provided enough space to prevent quick suffocation.

Instead of suffocation, the man’s primary threat to survival was the lack of food and water.

Enduring four days without water can be deadly, depending on an individual’s physical state.

Typically, going more than three days without water significantly increases the risk of death from dehydration.

The fact that the man survived this period without succumbing to dehydration is astonishing.

After his rescue, the man was promptly transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Remarkably, he was conscious and able to recount his side of the story to the police.

His ordeal began after a night of drinking with the 18-year-old suspect. What started as a social evening took a dark turn when a fight broke out.

The young man, in his drunken state, pulled a knife on the 62-year-old and subsequently buried him in the makeshift bunker.

Police officers believe that the young man also murdered the 74-year-old woman, who was his relative, either on Sunday night (May 12) or in the early hours of Monday.

The suspect has been remanded into custody as the investigation into both the murder and the attempted murder continues.

If the young suspect is found guilty of these heinous crimes, he could face a life sentence in prison.

The gravity of his actions has shocked the community.

One local resident spoke about the deceased victim, saying" “She was a very decent woman, no one ever had any problems with her.”
