Shridhar Chillal has recently broken the record for the longest fingernails in the world, with one hand measuring to a combined length of 909.6cm.

Chillal began growing out his fingernails in 1952, meaning that he has not cut them for 63 years.

With his thumbnails alone measuring over two meters long, Chillal has offered to donate them to a museum.
Shridhar says his obsession began as a young boy, when one of his teachers beat him and his friends for accidentally breaking one of his nails.

The teacher scolded the boys for not understanding the kind of care required to keep nails intact, which prompted Chillal to find out.
Although family members and teachers were unsupportive of the plan, Shridhar decided he would not cut his nails from that point on.

Despite achieving his goal of becoming a Guinness World Record holder, Shridhar describes that his talon-like nails have caused him loads of trouble, especially when he was younger.
"When I was to get married, no one was ready to marry me, I saw nearly 10 to 12 girls," he said.
Chillal explained, "If the girl agreed to marry, her parents would say I would strangle their daughter's neck and refuse."

"My family really didn't like it, no one would wash my clothes and I had to wash them by hand. Finding a job was also difficult, as no one was ready to employ me," Chillal described.
Luckily, Chillal's years of hard work have finally paid off, calling his Guinness record "the biggest goal in my life."
