Looks should never be a measure of one’s character but sadly, more than others we tend to discriminate against ourselves with the opinion that our facial features are far from perfect or what we would like them to be. Nobody is perfect and more than your looks it is your character and how you live your life that defines you.
But!! Then again, some instances could have a measure of validity in being concerned with ones looks and the desire to rectify them. One such man was Nate Gomes from California who was born with facial abnormalities and looked nothing like his twin brother. Nate finally became a participant of the season premiere of botched agreeing to surgery under famous cosmetic surgeon duo Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif. Believe it or not, this man spent $ 2 million to look normal again and it had nothing to do with matching up to his brother.
#1 Born with severe facial abnormalities
Nate Gomes from Merced California was born with Twin Twin Transfusion Syndrome. The abnormality resulted in a cleft lip, a hole in his heart and a huge gap between his eyes. At birth it seemed as if he had two noses.
#2 Nate never looked anything like his twin brother
Just take a look at him in the image. Would anyone pass a negative judgment against this man being too obsessed with looks? He had every right to want to look normal. However the only problem was the fact that he had spent $2 million for 21 surgeries over the last 25 years and yet he didn't look normal. He was not satisfied as the procedures didn't really yield desired results until he met the team from "Botched.
#3 Finally a meeting with ‘botched’ surgeons
Nate Gomes was accepted by the famous cosmetic surgeons Paul Nassif and terry Dubrow to appear on the TV reality shows premier season ‘botched by nature" where he underwent a grueling surgical reconstruction lasting 8 hours. Although this man spent $2million to look normal, he was taking one more chance.
#4 Nate just wanted to look normal
According to Nate, he never really wanted perfection of sorts, all he wanted was to look normal and his surgeries never gave him that. He wanted a normal nose. Just before the surgery, Doctor Nassif told Nate what they planned to do. ‘Lift up the corner of the eyes, add volume, take care of your neck, soften your cheek area, do your nose; The doctor admitted later that they put Nate through the ringer meaning it was an extensive procedure requiring a complex facial reconstruction.
#5 A successful operation involving total reconstruction
The surgery involved reconstruction on Nate's chest, face, nose, and eyes. In fact his whole facial profile underwent reconstruction. The operation was a success because once Nate took off his bandages; he was pleased with what he saw. It was finally ok to look into a mirror which till now he had always dreaded to do so. I look normal now, which is what I wanted from the beginning. I never asked for perfect I just asked for normal.'
#6 Nate is finally happy, he looks normal again
Nate is finally happy to look like a normal human being and though this man spent $2million to look normal, his 25 year old journey of pain and trauma was finally rewarded.
