The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner has officially been revealed

The recipient of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize has been named, just months after Donald Trump publicly declared that he should be the one to receive it.
Trump has spoken about the prestigious award numerous times over the past few years, often returning to the topic during rallies and interviews. He also mentioned it several times during his first presidency, and speculation around his possible nomination has only intensified during his second term — mostly fueled by Trump himself.
While meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House back in February, the Republican president remarked: "They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me."
Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for helping end or prevent several conflicts worldwide, suggesting that his diplomatic efforts have contributed to global stability.
"I've done six wars, I've ended six wars," the 79-year-old said in August during a summit with Ukrainian and European leaders. "If you look at the six deals I settled this year, they were all at war. I didn't do any ceasefires."
Despite those statements, Trump did not receive the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. Instead, the honor was awarded to María Corina Machado, a Venezuelan opposition leader and former member of the country’s National Assembly.

The official Nobel account announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating: "The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPeacePrize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."
Machado is a Venezuelan politician and industrial engineer who has become one of the most outspoken advocates for democracy in her country. She previously served in Venezuela’s National Assembly from 2011 to 2014 and is recognized internationally for her firm stance against authoritarian rule. She will receive the Nobel Peace Prize at a formal ceremony in Oslo, Norway, on December 10, 2025.
The announcement arrived shortly after Trump said he expected Hamas to release the remaining Israeli hostages on Monday (October 13), following what he described as a breakthrough peace deal.
Taking to his Truth Social account, Trump declared that both Israel and Hamas had agreed to move forward with the “first phase” of his proposed peace plan.
He wrote: "I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan."
"This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace."

Israel has since begun pulling troops from certain parts of Gaza, though multiple eyewitnesses reported overnight airstrikes, according to outlets such as the BBC. Despite the conflicting reports, Trump’s post gained widespread attention online, with supporters calling it a sign of diplomatic success and critics questioning the timing.
According to BBC coverage, the plan’s “initial withdrawal” would reduce Israel’s control to about 55 percent of Gaza, while a second phase could lower it further to roughly 40 percent.
The proposed final phase outlines the creation of a “security buffer zone,” which would leave about 15 percent of Gaza still under Israeli occupation. Negotiations are expected to continue over the coming weeks as both sides attempt to finalize details of the long-term agreement.
