Sadly, his comedic legacy lives on after his passing on October 28. But in season five, it wasn't a laugh-out-loud moment that didn't sit right with Perry; it was a storyline that didn't mesh with his vision for Chandler's journey.

Hold on to your Central Perk mugs! The plot twist that nearly changed Friends as we know it involved Chandler and Monica's relationship.

In the episodes where the gang hits Vegas, originally, Chandler was meant to stray after a spat with his high-maintenance sweetheart, Monica.

Imagine a friends world without Mondler! This juicy revelation comes straight from actor Lisa Cash, who spilled the beans after her 1999 cameo as an extra on the show.

She acted as a flight attendant, but was originally supposed to appear as a staff member in the hotel where Monica and Chandler were staying.

In an interview with TMZ, Cash explained: "The scene was Monica and Chandler were arguing in Vegas about Monica having lunch with Richard.

"Initially in our script, Chandler goes up to the hotel room, orders room service and I bring it up as a hotel worker."

Cash explained that while delivering the food, her character was supposed to end up 'talking and laughing and connecting' with Chandler.

As one thing led to another, "Chandler ends up cheating on Monica with my character," she said.

Picture this: Chandler, already shocked at ending up in bed with Monica, now contemplating throwing it all away.

Hard to fathom. Well, fans dodged that bullet, thanks to Matthew Perry taking a firm stand. Lisa Cash spills the beans, revealing how Perry nixed the idea, sparing Mondler from potential on-screen heartbreak that would have left fans less than thrilled.

"We had rehearsed it and everything, and then the day before we were shooting in front of a live audience, I was told that [Perry] went to the writers and said 'the audience will never forgive him for cheating on Monica'," she recalled.

"He was probably right. That would have changed, possibly, the course of the show."

Though many fans would agree that Perry made the right call, Cash admitted that having the chance to star in a scene with him could have been a 'game changer' for her.

Still, she said it was 'great' to work with Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer in the plane scene, and it was 'really fun' to work with Perry - even if it didn't make it to TV.

Over the weekend, Perry's Friends crew gathered for an intimate farewell to their dear friend. About 20 people, including Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and David Schwimmer, joined Matt LeBlanc, Matthew's father John Bennett Perry, and stepfather Keith Morrison in the ceremony.
