A simple mistake of this drug lord's model girlfriend has cost him everything as he gets arrested by the police. Reportedly, Brian Donaciano Olguin Berdugo was in Colombia to meet with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army when his girlfriend posted a picture of them at a famous hiking trail kissing each other. The picture proved to be deadly for Brian as police immediately took action and got him arrested.
A fugitive drugs lord who was wanted in 200 countries has finally been arrested after his whereabouts were given away by his Colombian model girlfriend in a Facebook post.
Brian Donaciano Olguin Berdugo – aka Pitt, who is part of the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS) – had been working in Cali in the Colombian department of Valle del Cauca, southwest of the capital of Bogota.
The CDS established itself in Mexico in the 1980s and operates in the states of Sinaloa, Durango, and Chihuahua.
Reportedly it is one of the most powerful drug trafficking cartels in the world and as per the United States Intelligence Community, even one of the strongest criminal organizations.
Police reportedly arrested the 39-year-old drug lord at a luxury apartment complex where he was staying with his model girlfriend.
According to police reports, Berdugo traveled to Colombia in February to meet with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army, representing CDS.
Berdugo who is wanted in nearly 200 countries for his drug-related criminal activities, got into a relationship with a Colombian model.
Though on the red alert list, the drug lord was staying at an apartment with her and even visited the popular and often very busy hiking trail Cerro de Los Cristales.
They took a picture of themselves kissing each other at the tourist site, which the model later uploaded onto Facebook.
The photo immediately captured the attention of law enforcement and was then analyzed by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
The suspect's location was subsequently discovered and passed on to the Colombian Anti-Narcotics Police.
Berdugo was also reportedly caught with another woman at the Jose Maria Cordova International Airport on security cameras.
Police took action and captured Berdugo after having surveilled him for two weeks. He now has an extradition order to the US and remains in custody.
Police also report that they were given a bribe of $265,000 to have him released, with the suspect's lawyers continuing to fight against his extradition.
General Jorge Vargas Valencia, a police spokesperson, stated: "We believe this result was the most important in terms of capturing Mexican cartel delegates who come to commit drug trafficking crimes with FARC in Cauca."
