Actor and former boxer Micky Rouke is not the one to mince his words in the recent interview and has slammed Amber Heard for destroying Depp's life and straight out labeled the Aquaman actress as a 'gold digger' Not only this, but Rouke shares that being someone who was accused of something they didn't do and facing the unfair consequences in his life, the actor says he feels bad for Depp and can understand his struggle.
Mickey Rourke believes Amber Heard is a gold digger and has shared his unapologetic views in a recent interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
The 69-year-old actor and former boxer did a candid interview with Morgan’s TalkTV show, which aired on Tuesday night (July 12). During the show, The Wrestler star discussed the former celebrity couple and their $50 million defamation case.
"Well, you know, I know Johnny for many years, but I don't really know him intimately," Rourke said after being asked by the host if he saw the highly publicized six-week trial.
"All I could say is I was in a situation one time where I got blamed for something that I didn’t do. It cost me movie jobs for several years and it caused a bad reputation," he continued.
"And finally, the truth came out but the truth came out after I lost movies and I lost jobs and so I felt bad for somebody that is trying to get chopped down by some gold digger, you know," Rourke added.
The 57-year-old talk show host probed: "You think that's what she was?" to which the ex-boxer replied "Abso- f***ing-lutely. Absolutely."
Rourke's comments come after the highly publicized defamation trial that saw Heard losing trial against her ex-husband Depp with the court concluding that the 36-year-old Aquaman actress defamed the Pirates of the Caribbean star in her 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post.
Even though Depp's name was not explicitly mentioned in the article but it was obvious that it targeted him and Depp's legal team argued during the trial that these false allegations have cost the actor both his personal life and his career.
The court agreed and awarded him $10.4 million in compensatory and punitive damages. The Danish Girl actress was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages out of the $100 million she was seeking in her countersuit.
Elsewhere during the Uncensored interview, Rourke discussed Top Gun: Maverick star Tom Cruise and branded him as "irrelevant".
Rourk shared his views on Cruise's action sequel and stated: "I got no respect for that… I don’t care about money and power. I care about, when I watch Al Pacino working, Chris Walken and De Niro’s early work and Richard Harris’s work and Ray Winstone’s work."
"That’s the kind of actor I want to be like… Brando back in the day. The kind of guys who tried to stretch as actors," he said before Morgan whether he thinks Cruise is a "good actor". Rourke replied: "I think he’s irrelevant in my world."
