After being accused of knocking a 9-year-old student to the ground last week, a teacher at an Ohio school for deaf kids has been put on leave.

The girl's mother is furious over the alleged event, which happened on December 6 at the St. Rita School for the Deaf in Evendale and was partially captured on surveillance tape, according to WCPO.

“No matter what way you watch it, it’s very obvious that that was a malicious act. It wasn’t accidental,” Alexys Wells, the girl’s mother, told the outlet.

The unidentified teacher was seen picking up the child and carrying her down the corridor in the school's CCTV footage, which Wells filmed on her cellphone and later shared on social media.

When the teacher is said to have thrown the student, the footage seems to glitch. The youngster could then be seen on the ground with the schoolteacher storming away.

The footage showed a male and female staff member standing over the girl as she remained lying on the floor.

“When I had first seen the video, I was so outraged that I had to take a minute. I was completely speechless, couldn’t really focus on what I wanted to say,” Wells said.

The mother claimed that her nonverbal daughter had also told her about the alleged incident.

“She’s completely non-verbal so the very first thing that she did was demonstrate what had happened with her teacher,” Wells said.

“She just continuously was like ‘My teacher threw me, my teacher threw me, my teacher threw me, she was angry, she threw me.'”

The details surrounding the alleged incident were unclear at first, and Well believes the school withheld any information from her.

They described it as a "minor incident," she claimed.

The unnamed instructor was reportedly placed on leave after local police were informed, according to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, which is in charge of the school.

It was unclear right away who notified law enforcement.

“Any actions by a St. Rita School staff member that do not exemplify respect and dignity for the children entrusted to our care are addressed promptly,” a spokesperson for the archdiocese said.

“The safety of students and staff at St. Rita School is of paramount importance.”
