Mother Drove Around For 10 Years With Dead Sons Body In Car
#1 Virginia Mom Found Driving Around With Her Dead Son's Body In The Trunk
A Virginia woman has been charged with murdering her son whose remains were allegedly found in a car she was driving more than 10 years after he went missing. Court documents indicate Tonya Slaton, 44, of Richmond was indicted on February 1 in Hampton Circuit Court on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of her son, Quincy Jamar Davis.
Human remains found in a Ford Mustang she was driving on Interstate 64 in Hampton in June were identified as Davis'.
#2 Police Pulled Her Over And Found A Trash Bag Sealed With Duct Tape In The Vehicle
A Virginia state trooper stopped a car Slaton was driving with expired license plates, according to a statement by the state police. During the stop, the trooper allegedly discovered human remains in the car. At the time, the trooper, who was conducting a traffic stop, began impounding the vehicle and while taking inventory, discovered a black trash bag in the trunk. There was a strong odor of rotting flesh permeating from the bag and the body had been double-bagged and sealed with duct tape.
#3 The Arrest Documents Allege She Killed Her Son Over 10 Years Ago
The indictment alleges Slaton killed Davis between July 24, 2004 and July 24, 2005. He would have been 14 or 15 years old at the time. Slaton allegedly threw some clothes on top of the bag, and told the trooper it contained just clothes.
Soon afterwards, she was charged with concealment of a dead body.
Following the arrest, the Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed the remains found in the car were those of Davis.
#4 Last Seen In 2004, Quincy Was Never Reported Missing By The Family Or School
The time and cause of young Quincy's death have not been determined. Quincy was last seen alive in 2004, when he was in the 7th grade at a Virginia Beach Middle School. He was last seen alive in his neighborhood on his way home from school, according to reports. Investigators are trying to figure out how the boy remained missing for a decade without being reported lost or kidnapped. Neither his mom nor anyone else in his family filed a missing person report. Not even his teachers reported him missing from class.
#5 The 44 Year Old Mother Has A Criminal Record And Was Accused Of Battering The Son When He Was A Toddler
Slaton was also convicted in 1997 of misdemeanor assault and battery for injuring Quincy when he was four years old, according to the Virginia Pilot. She was sentenced to no jail time on the condition of good behavior, the paper reports. She also plead guilty in 2007 to shooting into an occupied dwelling and attempted maiming. Slaton fired four shots through her boyfriend's front door after becoming angry when he tried to break up with her.
More charges against the 44-year-old mom are pending in the case, but police are seeking answers from his brother and other realatives, who have all been brought in for questioning.
