NY Woman Hijacks Bus After Being Told To Stop Smoking

#1 A New York woman stole a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus after being told to stop smoking.

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on Tuesday when the woman lit a cigarette in the back of the bus and was asked to put it out and get off.

#2 The woman then became irate, causing the driver to pull the bus over as he called police and let passengers off so they can catch another bus.

#3 Ortiz says the woman became irate and the driver began transferring riders to another bus.

#4 But he says the woman jumped into the driver's seat and started driving the bus.

#5 Ortiz says the bus went about four blocks before a dispatcher managed to reach through the window and shut it off.

#7 Unfortunately, she didn’t get very far. She drove for three blocks before another bus blocked her path and stopped her.

Then police showed up and arrested her, before bringing her to a local hospital to be evaluated.Her explanation for the hijacking? "People were following me," she told police. Makes sense.
