When this officer realized that the kids were scared of him, he decided to show them what he was really like. 5 minutes later he was down on the downplaying dolls with them.
Corporal CB Fleming doesn't wear his underpants on the outside or a billowing cape but the residents of South Hill, Virginia have come to refer to him as a superhero anyway.
The 42-year-old became known for his heroic behavior when he encountered a gas leak.
After making sure the kids were safe, he spent the afternoon keeping an eye on them and ended up earning the nickname, Batman.
When Fleming was called down to the house, he started chatting with 28-year-old mother Iesha Roper-Boswell. She told him the children were afraid of the cops. This didn’t sit right with Fleming and he decided to do something about it.
The father of four lay down on the ground and decided to draw and play dolls with the kids. With 15 years on the force, he said he had always wanted to have a positive impact on the community.
“It’s something I’ve always tried to do. When I got into this job, I knew there was something different, other than just writing tickets and being the bad person all the time. I figured if I could be that bright spot in someone’s day then that’s all that mattered.”
Roper-Boswell said, “He’s awesome. That’s the only word you can really use to describe C.B.. It’s just amazing, the bond he has with the children.”
“For him to make my child feel like she’s safe, she doesn’t even have to call 911, she just has to call C.B. if she’s in trouble. I’m glad he made this part of his job. He’s changed my daughter and niece’s lives.”
