"There were several people around at the time that called the police straight away and luckily they responded within minutes saving us from any further attacks.
"I am grateful for the people that called the police and helped us and also grateful for Brighton Police for getting the investigation moving as fast as they could."
"We are both heading in the right direction and on the mend but couldn't of stayed as positive as we have without all the love and support we have received from everyone of our friends and families."
He added: "No one should be discriminated for anything, we are all the same and all equal and no one should have to experience what we went through on Sunday."
