Every year, in May, Colorado celebrates Mike The Headless Chicken Festival to remember the miracle that had taken place 17 years ago, when a Colorado farmer chopped off a chicken's head, and yet it managed to live for another 18 months!

Mike's brain stem was still intact, and as it so happens, the brain stem is the main part of the bird's brain. So, the brain stem basically represented the entire brain, and thus allowed him to function fully, even without a head!
