Katherine Long suffered a broken eye socket when Chris Dalby punched her in the face unprovoked.

She had been enjoying a drink with her friend and gym-obsessed Dalby before getting up to leave the pair in the kitchen of her pal's home.

#3 She explained how her four-year-old daughter had been left petrified after seeing the damage the attack had caused her mum

But before she could leave he unexpectedly turned aggressive, punching Katherine in the face and leaving her sprawled unconscious on the floor.

Now the 26-year-old, from Willerby, Hull, has urged others to be wary of the dangers of internet dating.

Katherine, who suffered a broken eye socket, a deep cut to her eyebrow and horrific bruising to her face, said: "I went round to my friend's house for a couple of drinks with them both.

"They had quite a lot to drink, I couldn't as I was working the next day. Because of that I decided to leave and, as I went to get my bag, he punched me hard in the face.

"I didn't know this man until the day he attacked me, but he has affected my life ever since.

#4 The mum has now warned of the dangers of online dating and told other to be careful of who they decide to meet

"The attack caused massive devastation to me and my family, so much so that I feel I need to make people aware of the dangers of internet dating. People are not who they say they are, it is so dangerous."

Katherine's pal had been dating Dalby for three months, and finally introduced the muscle-bound fitness fanatic in July 2014.

The meeting started well, with the three enjoying drinks but things soon turned nasty.

And it left poor Katherine unconscious and being rushed to Hull Royal Infirmary for a CT brain scan.

She added: "I had to take three weeks off work because of what he did. My little girl, who was four at the time, was petrified of what happened to her mum."

#6 The attacker was slapped with a six-month suspended sentence for the heinous assault

Dalby pleaded guilty to wounding and grievous bodily harm and received a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months at Hull crown court in December.

He was also subjected to a 12-month community order and given a two-year restraining order against Katherine and her friend.

She added: "I was disgusted with the sentence, he should have gone to prison.

"With the sentence in mind, I feel it is my responsibility to raise awareness to prevent this happening again. I want people to be aware that everything is not always as it seems.

"I am genuinely OK now. I've had two years to come to terms with what happened.

"I am not the type of person to let anything get the better of me. I have a little girl to look after, I will never let him ruin my life."
