We often underestimate how much of an impact a tiny gesture can ultimately have on a person's life. It doesn't take much to stop and ask a person how their day is going, but sometimes that tiny moment of acknowledgement can make their entire day.

#2 Little did he know that in doing so, he was about to change her life forever.

James does a lot of social work to help out the homeless in the Tampa area, so when he first saw Jennie Barela living on the streets, he wanted to learn her story. The two began talking more and more as he passed her on the street, but she didn't seem to want to talk very much. However, he eventually learned much about her life. One day she mentioned that she had a son who she hadn't seen in some time, and he lived in Denver, CO.

#3 James decided he would track down Jennie's son and let him know of her whereabouts.

He never expected that a simple phone call could have such an impact on her life. After posting an alert to all the Facebook pages and groups in the Denver area, he received information on the woman's son.

#4 Jennie's son was searching for his mother for a long time and feared she may had even died because of her illness.

Jennie's son, Jason Osaka, had been searching for his mother for three years when he received a call from James. He had started to think that he would never see his mother again and even had suspicions that his schizophrenic mother was dead.

#5 He hopped on the next plane to Tampa, but he definitely didn't expect what was going to happen next...

When he saw his mother, Jason was overcome with emotion. He didn't expect to see her matted hair and withered clothes. He knew he had to take care of her from now on. He purchased new clothes for her, moved her into his home and is trying to get his mother the help that she needs. Even before returning to Colorado, he took her to the store and purchased all new clothing for her and gave her a day at the spa.

#6 Osaka had been removed from the CO missing persons list and later arrested for trespassing.

Osaka had reported his mother as a missing person back in 2012, but her name was somehow removed from the missing persons database. So in 2014, when his mother was arrested for trespassing, he was not alerted because she had no identification and her report was missing. Nobody is sure how she ended up in Tampa living on the streets.

#7 There's really no telling how far a small gesture can go!

Jason is still worried about his mother because this is the third time they have been reunited. Because of her mental condition she keeps wandering off. He says that this time will be different, and he plans to get her the help she needs, and to watch over her better. Jason almost lost his mother forever, but through the kindness of a small gesture, he was able to find her.
