Shocking revelations from Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's marriage has left the internet rallying to support Depp. Apart from the viral hashtags supporting Depp and calling out Heard, people have now renewed the online petition to get Amber Heard removed from the upcoming Aquaman 2 movie. The petition has hit 2 million signatures and is set on crossing the 3 million target.
Petition To Remove Amber Heard From Aquaman 2 Reaches Two Million Signatures
A renewed petition asking for Amber Heard to be fired from the upcoming Aquaman 2 movie has been circulating on social media and has gotten more than two million signatures amid Johnny Depp's defamation trial against her.
It is reported that the Change.org petition started two years back in December 2019, it was only months after Depp was sued by Heard.
However, the campaign has now seen renewed support as shocking details about the former couple's marriage period have been revealed to the public through the defamation trial.
During the trial, an audio clip was also played in the court in which the jury heard Heard admitting that she did not punch Depp but she did hit him.
During his final moments giving testimony, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor told the court that he believes he was a victim of domestic abuse.
The petition reads:
“Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognised, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.
“Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”
The petition shares the incidents in which Amber Heard physically abused Johnny Depp where she allegedly punched Depp twice in the face and another instance where Heard allegedly severed Depp’s finger while in Australia.
It is reported that the petition was created by Jeanne Larson and directed toward DC Entertainment and Courtney Simmons, the SVP for Publicity & Communications for DC Warner Bros.
The media company received flak from the public after it was reported by Deadline that Johnny Depp was set to be replaced by Mads Mikkelsen in the Fantastic Beasts 3 film, and has since had another resurgence during the trial.
The petition also reads:
“Since Heard's divorce from Johnny Depp, she has systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, repeating multiple accounts of fake incidents in which she had actually abused Johnny Depp, but lied and created false accounts of him being the abuser.”
The defamation trial comes after Johnny Depp fiked a defamation case against his former wife after she wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post in which she claimed to be a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse’.
The article didn't name Depp but the repercussions it had on his personal life and his career were quite obvious.
When an attorney asked Depp: “What have you lost as a result of Miss Heard making these allegations against you?”
Depp replied: “Nothing less than everything.”
Heard is set to reprise her role as Meera alongside Jason Momoa in the Aquaman sequel, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and is set for release in March next year.
The petition to have her removed aims to get three million signatures.
