Guess how many ornaments

This one is pretty easy but loads of fun!

All you need is paper and pens for your guests. And a basket or box for them to put their guess in.

There are a few ways this can be done.

You could have your guests try to guess how many decorations total are on the tree

or maybe have them guess how many of a certain color are on the tree

or maybe just have them give their guess of how many candy canes are hung on the tree.

The person who guesses closest without going over wins a prize!

You could also just put the ornaments or candy canes in a jar or decorative bowl and have your guess how many are in there.

Mingle and Jingle

This game is a good one as it gets your guests to mingle.

You will need to print out some "Christmas" questions...and give each guest a sheet. During the party they go around asking everyone a question..the goal here is for the person to talk to at least half the number of people as there are questions......for instance.....if there are 20 questions, they must go around and ask at least 10 people a question from the sheet. Continuing around until their sheet is full.

This can be done just for fun or you could give a prize to the first person to fill in their sheet.....although if done with a prize in mind it won't give them much time to "mingle" with each other.

Christmas movie drinking game

Well once you break the ice with the previous game, this would be a great game to really get the party going!

For this what you need to do is simply watch a Christmas movie.....ANY Christmas movie...for a party it usually works best if you as the host already has one picked out......

Here is how to play......Let's take "Home Alone" for example,

Drink every time someone gets injured in a way that would normally send them immediately to the hospital (or kill them).

Any time Macaulay Culkin screams, drink for the duration of the scream.

Take a shot every time you see John Candy.

Drink whenever you see a pizza on screen.

Take a communal shot whenever there’s a reference to having extra-cheese on pizza.

...You could even add a few more "take a drink" moments to the list if you like.....say for instance you have a favorite part of the movie...like when Macaulay Culkin plays the gangster movie to scare the intruders away with the gunshot sounds or when Macaulay Culkin throws marbles on the sidewalk (there will be two drinking moments in a row if you do this one)

Whatever movie you watch just have fun and be safe!

(remember to take your guests keys and not let them drive home)

Stocking Stuffers or Bluffers

This game should make for some good laughs! But before the start of this game - you must get your guests to agree to not spoil the fun! Because some stockings will have either some money inside (not much - $1 - $5 or more if you choose)but they won't know how much or which ones as others will have a small gift in them and others will have "Bluffer" cards in them. Bluffers are challenges. So before playing your guests must agree that if they get a challenge card they must do what is on the card. Here are some examples of what could be on the card...

Stuff your mouth full of marshmallows and sing jingle bells in front of everyone.

Must kiss someone under the mistletoe - if married it must be their spouse - if single it must be someone else who is also single

Wear Santa hat for the rest of party.

Must put on reindeer antlers and a flashing Rudolf nose and stand outside and sing Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer for 30 seconds.

You get the idea...

You might want to fake them out by putting a challenge card or money in a small gift box inside the stocking so that they really can't tell what is inside!

Christmas Carol and or songs Pictionary

Make a list of Christmas Carols and put each song on its own card. (Index cards are good for this) Then have your guests divide into two teams. Divide the stack of cards with the Christmas Carols written on them and give half to each team.

Each team member takes a turn drawing a picture of the Carol/song that is written on the card.

For instance.....The team member draws a picture of Santa Claus under a mistletoe and someone correctly guesses "I saw mommy kissing Santa Clause" and then the team sings 5 seconds of that song. The person monitoring each team then gives that team the "Okay" to go on to the next card. The first team to do this 10 times wins.

Gift Wrap Game

Have guests pair up in teams of two. Each team member will hold hands or keep one hand behind their back. Using only one hand each, each team works together to gift wrap a box. The first team to successfully wrap their box wins. This game is especially funny after your guests have had a bit to drink.

Each team is provided with a roll of wrapping tape, a pre-cut piece of wrapping paper, a box (you can get packs of three at the dollar store) and a bow.

Draw a Christmas picture

Each guest is given a paper plate - the sturdy ones work best, and a pen. Then the host will give instructions one at a time as what to draw.

1. Draw a line for a floor.

2. Draw a Christmas Tree. Add decorations if you feel so inclined.

3. Draw a star on top of your tree.

4. Draw a fireplace with a mantel next to the tree.

5. Draw a stocking hanging from the mantle of your fireplace.

6. Draw a present below the tree.

Each person will draw what the host tells them without looking at their drawing. When they are done is when they get to see their drawing.

Points are given for;

1. 2 points if the tree touches the floor.

2. 2 points if your stocking is touching your mantel.

3. 1 point if your star touches your tree.

4. 1 point if your star is above your tree.

5. 1 point for every Christmas ornament ball that is ON your tree, etc.

6. 1 point if your fireplace doesn’t touch the tree (it’s a fire hazard!).

7. 1 point if you actually drew something decorative on your stocking (or something cute, like a tiny kitten peeking out).

8. 2 points if your present is under your tree.

The person with the most points wins a prize.

Oven Mitt Unwrap game

A nicely wrapped gift is put in the center of the table and each person takes a turn unwrapping it. But.......first, each person MUST put on the Santa hat and oven mitts (the fluffier the better) Each turn is limited......and can be done one of two ways....Each person takes a turn rolling the dice, the person who gets a pair of 6's gets to unwrap first, with the Santa hat and oven mitts on, while the person to the left rolls the dice, when a pair of anything is rolled, the gift is immediately passed to that person along with the Santa hat and oven mitts. Once the hat and mitts are on the person to their left starts rolling the dice, again, when a pair of any kind is rolled the gift is immediately passed to that person along with the hat and mitts and again, once the hat and mitts are on the person to their left starts rolling the dice. The person who opens the gift during their turn gets to keep the gift.

Santa Limbo

Have each guest line up behind the limbo stick while two people hold the stick about 50 inches off the ground. Each person takes a turn going under the limbo stick. If the stick it hit that person is out. For the next round of the people that made it through the first round, they take turns going under the limbo stick, this time the stick is lowered 3 - 5 inches. This continues until there is only 1 person that is able to make it under the limbo stick. Remember to lower the stick 3 - 5 inches for each round.

Now for the catch...before going under the limbo stick each person has to stuff a pillow under their shirt!
