A 39-year-old man attacked an elderly 75-year-old Asian American woman only for her to fight back and send him to the hospital. It was later revealed that he had also attacked an elderly man the very same morning.
With the wave of hate crime on the rise, there are some truly disturbing stories to be seen. One man decided to throw his hat in the ring of racists and learnt his lesson the hard way.
The incident which occurred in San Francisco started when the man decided to attack the elderly woman and punched her.
The elderly woman who was clearly not taking any sh*t that day, asked ‘You bum, why did you hit me?’ and decided to fight back.
She had been waiting at a traffic light when the man had approached her. She had luckily found a stick nearby to defend herself with.
In a video shared by reporter Dennis O’Donell who was present at the scene, the attacker can be seen handcuffed to a stretcher with a bloody nose.
The elderly woman however did not seem to have enough as she waved her stick at him.
O’Donell echoed that sentiment. “The woman said that she was hit. She attacked back. From what I could see, she wanted more of the guy on the stretcher and the police were holding her back.”
While the police have not disclosed a motive for the attack, it is speculated to be a hate crime. The 39-year-old attacker was also being investigated for attacking an 83-year-old Asian man earlier that day
In an interview, Ms. Xiao Zhen Xie with the help of her daughter Dong-Mei Li, stated that she was “Very traumatized, very scared and this eye is still bleeding. The right eye still cannot see anything and still bleeding and we have something to absorb the bleeding.”
Miss Xie had sustained injuries to her eye and face and is seen holding an ice pack in the above video. Her family has started a GoFundMe for her injuries and met the goal within the day.
Steven Jenkins, 39, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with intent to cause bodily harm and two counts of elderly abuse.
