A disturbing crime was reported where two South Carolina security guards are facing charges of attempted murder of their boss after they tampered with eye drops and tried to add the drug in their boss's coffee. The boss was stopped on time from consuming the beverage by another employee. If convicted, the two men can face up to 20 years in prison for the felony charge.
47-year old Andrew Doty and 30-year old Hunter Howard have been booked by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office on charges of tampering with a human drug product or food item with the intention to cause bodily harm to another person.
The two South Carolina security officers are now facing criminal charges for allegedly attempting to poison their supervisor.
The two men had been working in the Sea Island community of Hilton Head, a town known as a vacation destination marked by Atlantic Ocean beaches and golf courses.
The security guards are facing charges of placing eye drops into their security supervisor’s personal coffee maker.
Officials report that another employee was able to stop the supervisor in time before he drank any of the coffee.
When used in high amounts or mistakenly ingested, eye drops contain an ingredient that can cause drowsiness, slow down the heart rate, and also lower blood pressure, according to Poison Control. The drops may result in serious toxicity or death.

The tampering charge is a felony, and both security officers could face up to 20 years in prison.
Doty and Howard have been released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
