He said: "The three things you can do to increase your chances of winning a lottery game is to pick your own numbers and stick with them every time; set a budget; and never spend rent or grocery money to play a lottery game."

His first tip is to pick your numbers and stick with them every time, whether it's a birthday or a lucky number.

The tricky part is that lottery numbers are picked totally at random.

This means there is no way to predict which numbers will win.

So, even if you have lucky numbers or use a special strategy, it won’t really improve your chances of winning. 

Every number has the same chance of being chosen, and that makes it very hard to win.

This means no specific combination will increase your chances of winning on any particular occasion, according to Forbes.

Richard's second tip is easy to follow: Set a budget.

This advice is really smart because there’s no point in winning $10,000 if you’ve already spent $20,000 on tickets.

His third tip is closely related to the second one.

He says to never use your rent or grocery money to play the lottery.
