Everyone should be happy! Shane MacGowan, the frontman of The Pogues, has joined TikTok, with the frontman hailed as a legend, yet some have expressed concern for his health.

MacGowan and his band rose to notoriety in the 1980s and beyond with their distinct sound, which fused Irish traditional music with punk rock.

The Pogues are likely best known for their Christmas smash 'Fairytale of New York,' which featured Kirsty McColl singing with the band, but they have a plethora of other iconic songs.

Anyway, the band's lead singer, whose name is derived from the Irish 'póg mo thóin,' which translates as 'kiss my arse,' has suddenly shifted dramatically into the twenty-first century and joined TikTok.

It's nice to see Shane online and having fun, and most of the comments underneath his posts on the social video app have been from people thanking him for his contribution to music, but others have expressed concern for his health, as he does appear fragile.

The 64-year-old made his TikTok debut while seated in a chair and appearing to shake slightly, announcing: "Welcome to Shane MacGowan on TikTok.

"I hope you enjoy, God bless.”

Fans flocked to the comments section to express their admiration for the man and his band, with one writing: "Fairytale of New York is still the best Christmas song xxx love to you and your family."

Another proclaimed him the "best songwriter of all time," and a third wrote: “You have no idea just how epic you made Christmas Eve in our house growing up.

“Thank you!”

Someone else commented: “God bless you Shane thank you for the memories and the great music.”

Yet another comment read: “Absolute legend of a man and talent!

“The Pogues will always be on my playlists!"

“But now time for the Fairytale of New York!”

Others, however, have observed that Shane may not be looking his best, and it's well documented that he has had a troubled relationship with alcohol in the past, as well as apparently suffering from other narcotics.

“So sad to see him like this,” one said.

Another said: “OMG what happened to him?”

Shane has been confined to a wheelchair since a fall a few years ago, and he notably lost all of his teeth before receiving a new set in 2009.

MacGowan's wife, Victoria Clarke, recently stated that he became sober after a hospital stay for pneumonia and a hip injury and that he continued to remain sober once he returned home.

We don't know if he's sober right now, and it's really none of our concern.

Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan, a film on his life created by his friend Johnny Depp in 2020, featured an unseen archive video of the band, as well as a story about MacGowan's life and tributes from his celebrity friends.
