You won't believe what she dreamed up to do with all that glitter. It's magically spectacular!
She Glued Glitter All Over Her Door Frame. The End Result? Amazing!
#1 Getting Started
Everyone knows that a pinch of glitter can make anything look a little more magical and glamorous, but did you know it would even add sparkle to your walls? This idea will transform your room into a glittery dreamworld that you could never have imagined.
What you will need:
Glitter
Mod Podge
Putty knife
Disposable bowl
Sponge brushes
#2 Mix Your Glitter
Pour a large amount of glitter into the bowl. You can mix different colors or shapes if you'd like. In this example, fine glitter is mixed in with some larger pieces. You can change up colors to suit your taste or to match different areas you want to make sparkly. Glitter comes in a wide variety of colors at craft shops.
#3 Add The Mod Podge
Then pour a generous amount of mod podge into the bowl. Mix the glitter with the glue using a mixing stick or the end of the sponge brush (you'll have to wash it off later). The mixture will be really thick and clumpy, but that's how it should be.
#4 Cut Out Your Area
Using the putty knife, spread the glitter in any corners or edges of your wall. This will be difficult if you just try to use the sponge brush. The putty knife is good for cutting into the corners and along the frame.
#5 Begin Applying The Sparkle
You can use the sponge brushes for the rest of the surface. It is easiest if you just use a little of the glitter mix at a time and apply it in layers. Also, if you work from the bottom of the wall up, it's less likely to drip. If it drips be sure to clean it up with Goo Gone quickly as it will harden on your flooring. Don't be afraid to go over any missed areas with a new coating, as it will all blend together once you are finished with the surface.
#6 OMG Amazing
A few layers, and a lot of work later, your diva glitter wall will be finished.
This person definitely had lots of patience. In the interest of time and money, it's probably better to not take on a whole wall but just use it to enhance a portion, like a door frame or small sections of your room. The result of this project made for a beautifully stunning wall between two door frames.
#7 Create Desings
Using the same technique, you could also create small decorative pieces like these fancy wall patterns using stencils or tape to mark off your designs.
#8 Go Glitter Crazy
If you get the hang of it, you could take on bigger projects like designing a fairytale bedroom set by decorating dressers and bed frames. For a sparkling room try painting the inside of an old lampshade and lighting it up. Your room will glow with that fantasy sparkle you deserve and desire.
