Sometimes an item might be missing from your order, or perhaps you end up with something completely different from what you thought you were buying.

Usually, a quick call or email to customer service can smooth over these bumps in the road.

However, a recent experience shared by a Target shopper has raised eyebrows, suggesting a mix-up that might not have been so accidental.

The shopper, a TikToker named Liv (@fooddaddy11), took to the social media platform to share a peculiar incident involving their order from the retail giant.

Liv had placed an order for two books featuring queer storylines, expecting them to arrive through shipping, but what they found in their package was unexpected—a paperback copy of the Bible.

"When I opened my package, I got the Bible," they explain in their video.

"That is what I got. I ordered three queer books. One was an in-store pickup, the other two were supposed to be delivered, and I got the Bible, which should never happen to anybody because it is a freedom of speech and all that type of stuff."

Having previously worked at Target for over three years, Liv expressed skepticism that this mix-up could have happened by mistake, given the procedures employees follow when packing orders.

"Now here’s the fun fact about Target: the person that decided to send this to me—I used to work for Target for three-and-a-half years, I know how ship-from-store and order pickup works," Liv shares.

They describe how employees use a device called a Zebra to locate and scan each item, ensuring the right product ends up in the right package.

"They went out of their way to deliberately bring out the two books that I wanted to put them to the side and put this in instead," Liv asserts.

Liv encouraged others who might have experienced something similar to share their stories, wondering if this incident is part of a larger pattern.

"This was purposely done," they say, announcing their intention to contact Target's corporate office about the issue.

"I am going to be contacting—letting you know, Target—I’m contacting your corporate because this should have never happened, and I hope this won’t happen to other guests that you actually handle."

"It’s just really funny that it happened to me and I used to work for one of your stores and if you need that store number, I can definitely give that to you."

This incident comes in the wake of Target receiving criticism from conservative groups over its Pride section last summer, which prompted adjustments to how and where the store showcased its Pride merchandise.

Liv's video has sparked outrage among viewers, with many echoing the sentiment that the swap seemed intentional and urging Liv to pursue further action.

Commenters offered insights into how the incident might be investigated, with one noting:

"I would imagine Target has a record of who scanned that order no? I would assume you have to log in to the device they use."

Another commenter, drawing from their own experience in warehouse jobs, argued: "There’s no way to make this mistake, and there’s no way the person got out without getting caught."

A third shared: "I’m so sorry this happened to you. This was 100% intentional! I used to pick orders and if they didn’t scan the book then they can just input the item # into the Zebra to put it in the cart."
