#1 Cancer is a disease that is so deadly, so horrible, that it defies metaphor – we use the big C as a metaphor to describe all the worst things in life, but is there a word dreadful enough to describe cancer? I don’t think so. In 2015 there were an estimated 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. Many were able to beat the disease, while others were not so lucky. Sadly Jess Fairclough was one of those people. The 18-year-old from Liverpool was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease last year, and when it spread to her bone marrow was given just a few days to live. Before she passed Jess decided to write a heartbreaking note, titled ‘Things that are most important right now,’ that has since taken the internet by storm.

#2 The list, which Jess says “make up being happy and that I believe is the secret to life,” includes spending time with her loved ones and outweighing the good with the bad. You can see her inspiring words below.

Since Jess lost her battle late last year a fundraising page has been set up in her memory, which states will help to let "her legacy live on." The crowdfunding page is raising money for CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading charity for children and young people, who the teen's family say "helped her smile when not even her three dogs could."

This is a truly touching story and Jess' strength and moving words really make you appreciate all the simple things in life, what an inspiration.
