Roger Rodriguez, 19, was left dangling in the air for 30 minutes when the bungee-jump malfunctioned at the local fair. When hanging in air Rodriguez says that he told himself that he is not going to die in this manner and said that although his head was filled with blood, he didn't give up and using all his strength he told them to hurry up to bring him down.

A 19-year-old California teenager was left suspended in the air for almost half an hour, in a local fair when the bungee jump malfunctioned. Roger Rodriguez, of Oxnard, California, when attended the local fair for fun and adventure, he definitely didn't know what sort of adventure he will soon be facing.

Rodriguez was one of the three people who got stuck when bungee-jumping malfunctioned and besides those other two people, he was the only one who was left dangling in the air upside down for approximately 30 minutes, to which Rodriguez described the experience as, “I was on the verge of passing out; my head was filled with blood, my veins were popping out of my body.I remember telling them to hurry up, using the last strength I had in my body, telling them to hurry up.”

While Rodriguez had already jumped off from the platform, the other two fairgoers were waiting for their turn when they got stuck in the basket between 90 and 100 feet in the air.

According to the Ventura Fire Department, due to the mechanical failure, the ride operators could not move Rodriguez back to safety which left him dangling in the air for half an hour until the fire department came to his rescue.
The moment Rodriguez was saved, it was captured live on Facebook by Mariah Barnes-Jones and since then the video has been viewed more than 50,000 times and in the video, it could be seen the rescue crew safely pulling Rodriguez down by help of ladder, while the crowd erupting with cheers after he landed safely back on ground.

After his rescue, Rodriguez was taken to the nearby hospital where he was cleared of trauma except for a minor headache. Rodriguez said, "I'm fine now. I was released from the hospital last night with no head trauma. A headache, of course, with blood rushing to your head for that long."
When talking about his experience Rodriguez said, "I said a prayer. I told myself, God, I’m not going to die here."

However, this mid-air fright has definitely not scared Rodriguez to stop him from being adventurous, as he is now planning a parasailing trip soon with his best friend for his birthday on 20th September.
When talking to local news channel Rodriguez said after this incident where he got very close to death, he has realized the value of health and well-being. He said, “I learned to appreciate your life because you never know what horrible accident you could be in,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re at the fair, or a car, or who you’re with, where you are; just to appreciate life and respect those who are in a really bad situation like that.”
