After a series of flash floods in Nebraska, the entire area was struggling with electric breakdowns and the destruction of property. These people however were faced with a particularly terrifying situation.

In a scene that seems straight out the final destination movies, these group of friends were in an elevator when it got stuck due to the damage done by the floods.

Tony Luu and a group of friends were calling for help as the water kept rising and reached as high up as their necks.

The friends that were in their own apartment block were leaving the building when the incident occurred. The video which was posted to Tony’s Instagram shows the friends trying to keep their heads above water as it kept rising.

Tony said, “Water started coming in through the vents and then I just thought it was going to come up to my ankles."

"Once it got to my stomach, we kind of figured, 'Ok, this is real'."

It was at this point that Tony called 911 and one of his roommates to find help.

"I was like, 'Hey, you need to come down. I could be dying right now."

One of Tony’s friends also calling for help can be heard saying, "OK, can you please just hurry?"

One of Tony’s roommates also tried to pry the elevator door open to no avail before emergency services were able to reach the scene.

"We might die if you don't come help us," Tony said to his friend.

"Once I got down to try and open the door then it was up to my neck, yeah, it got pretty high.”

"We just got it open and started swimming out and once I got out I just couldn't believe like wow this is something you see in a movie."

While the incident was mentally jarring, none of the people who experience the event needed medical attention.

One of Tony’s friends Daylon Guy who was also in the elevator said, “It was pretty traumatising, but they seemed to be doing well."

This incident was one in a series of events where people were either stuck or compromised as a result of these flash floods. This tweet shows a couple that had been standing on their flooded car in wait of rescue.
