Crews said:

My wife was like, ‘I don't know you anymore. I'm out of here.' And that changed me, because I realized this thing is a major, major problem. I literally had to go to rehab for it. The thing that I found, by not telling people, it becomes more powerful, but when you tell, and when you put it out there in the open, it loses it power.'

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star goes on to confess how this problem became so intense that he'd have to watch porn until the day turned into night- with his habit leading him to do a stint at a rehab facility.

He add:

My wife was like, ‘I'm out.' And you know what? I did not get help so I could get my wife back. I just wanna tell you that. I got help because I needed it. But she did decide to stay with me because she knew I was repenting, she knew I was going to get help, and she knew I was sorry.

The fact that such a big celebrity has opened up about his addiction to something so intimate and so confidently is pretty cool. He is now trying to help others in similar situations.

Sometimes, addiction to things like pornography is less overt and thus people pay less attention to it but it really is just as harmful.

To speak so openly about such a difficult personal issue does take some serious balls, so fair play to Crews on that.

But there's still a lot of work to be done to address the social stigma attached to pornography addiction and get those who are affected the help they need.
