When celebrities have a run-in with the law we all die a little inside depending how much we love or hate them. There probably isn’t one person out there that is plugged into media that can say they don’t follow an arrest story. Some of the arrests are no joke they involve serious crimes and questionable actions of those involved. However, there are a great number of celebs who have all succumb to petty crimes in some cases just so they can up their celebrity status. Some of the arrests stories you are about to read involve popular celebrities who just don’t know how to act in public. Maybe they had a sordid past, or have a straight up substance or alcohol problem that had them acting out of character. While the stories may be embarrassing for them they are entertaining for the fans. It not only humanizes them but it has us saying “thank god that wasn’t me”. Buckle up because these arrests will leave you feeling some type of way about some of your favorite celebs.
#1 Robert Downey Jr.
Actor Robert Downey Jr. has turned his life around and is currently one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. That being said, his life wasn’t always this great in the mid-90s to early 2000s Downey Jr. was struggling with a drug addiction and a set of bad choices. One of those bad choices was getting arrested racing his car along Sunset Blvd. He was drunk and in possession of a stash of drugs and a magnum revolver. During a separate occurrence, he was arrested while naked and hallucinating behind the wheel of his very expensive Porsche. He has so many more stories far worse than these two. Thankfully, he has turned his life around. He is drug and alcohol free and trying his best to keep on the straight and narrow.
#2 Shia Labeouf
While in Chicago filming part of Indiana Jones, Shia Labeouf was arrested for trespassing at a Walgreens. At 2:25 AM, Labeouf was arrested after appearing drunk and refusing to leave the store. Apparently, Labeouf had returned to this Walgreens three times after forgetting to buy cigarettes.
#3 Reese Witherspoon
America’s Sweetheart Reese shocked us all when she was arrested back in April of 2013 on a disorderly conduct charge related to her husband’s DUI arrest in Atlanta, GA.
#4 Winona Ryder
Winona Ryder was arrested in Dec. 2001 for shoplifting more than $4,000 worth of merchandise from the Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue. She was charged with grand theft and the illegal possession of prescription pain killers. She was sentenced to three years probation.
#5 Haley Joel Osment
The former child star had been off the radar for several years when he resurfaced in 2006 and was arrested for marijuana possession and drunk driving.
#6 Matthew McConaughey
McConaughey was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia but that wasn’t even the big deal. They found him naked and playing bongos in the streets of his hometown of Texas. The charges were ultimately dropped and he was let off with a $50 fine because playing the bongos is disturbing the peace.
#7 Charles Barkley
In 2008, Charles Barkley was arrested for running a red light in Scottsdale Arizona, and charged with DUI. However, what makes this arrest a cut above the rest is that during the arrest, Barkley admitted he was in a hurry because he had to make it around the corner to pick up a hooker for oral sex. Barkley also jokingly offered to “tattoo” a cop’s name on his rear end if it would get him out of trouble.
#8 Hugh Gran
Hugh Grant, the British star of the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, was arrested in Hollywood in 1995 and charged with indecent conduct with a prostitute in a public place after meeting her on Sunset Boulevard. Grant, 34, whose girlfriend is Elizabeth Hurley, the actress, was arrested by vice squad police, who alleged that he drove up to a prostitute at about 1.30 am. Come on Hugh, cheating on Elizabeth Hurley with some prostitute?
#9 Justin Bieber
Bieber was caught on camera throwing eggs at his neighbor’s house that probably should have been the end of it but it wasn’t. For some reason, the cops saw fit to raid his house, in the middle of their raid they found a lot of drugs. They arrested his friend Lil’ Za for the drugs and charged Bieber with vandalism. In addition to the charge, he was forced to pay his neighbor $81,000 in damages, take anger management classes and was on probation for 2 years.
#10 Amanda Bynes
Bynes started her now infamous downward spiral when she was arrested back in 2012 for side-swiping a police car and was later charged with a DUI.
#11 Carmen Electra
In 1999 the former centerfold was arrested in Miami on battery charges against her then husband, Dennis Rodman.
#12 Boy George
Boy George has been charged with false imprisonment after allegedly chaining a male escort to the wall of his flat during a kinky photographic session. Come on, you need to get their consent before chaining them up. Boy George got 15 months for this genius move.
#13 Emile Hirsch
In 2015 while promoting a film at the Sundance Film Festival, Hirsch was arrested for one of the craziest incidents to ever take place at Sundance. He put a female studio executive in a choke hold and dragged her clear across the nightclub table. It’s still unknown what would make him do something so insane regardless, he was arrested and charged with assault. Hirsch looks absolutely ridiculous in his mug shot.
#14 Shia Labeouf
July 2017 he was arrested for public drunkenness but what was worse was the racist, offensive tirade he went on while the cops tried to detain him. Which was all caught on tape by the way. Labeouf was arrested in the past for public drunkenness and one would assume that if every time they drink some crazy crap goes down that they would stop drinking.
#15 DMX
DMX’s arrest started out as him trying to impersonate a federal agent. Yes, you read that correctly. Supposedly X came flying through an airport gate in his expensive SUV to yell at a man who had cut him off earlier. Road rage at its finest, right? He tried to scare the driver by stating that he was an FBI agent. However, when he was apprehended the real police found drugs and a billy club in his car both illegal to have (obviously). DMX has had so many run-ins with the police that he was not phased by this incident or any other, to be honest. In fact, he actually talked about the incident on a radio station and actually tried to justify why he did what he did. That’s one thing about the rapper he never seems to think he’s wrong.
#16 Winona Ryder
We can’t have a list like this one without shaming the hell out of Winona Ryder. She has snap backed from her very public and very embarrassing 2001 arrest in Saks Fifth Avenue. We all know the story, she lifted about $5,500 worth of stuff. You name it she had it clothes, tidbits just unnecessary stuff that truthfully, she could have paid for. It’s been 16 years yet, people still associate her with the crime it’s no longer Winona Ryder the actress it’s Winona Ryder the shoplifter.
