The first trailer for Seth Rogen’s Sausage Party brought us all R-rated foody fun and, while the latest teaser may tone down the language, it ramps up the carnage.

The film stars a sausage named Frank (Rogen) who lives an idyllic and peaceful life with other groceries but dreams of getting picked by a customer.

One day his hopes come true when he and his girlfriend, a hot dog bun called Brenda, are bought and discover the dark secret. People eat food!
Our hero then goes on an adventure to save the rest of his friends from a fate worse than death.
The film is supposed to be spoofing Pixar and basically seems like a more fucked up version of Toy Story, but replacing toys with food.

Speaking to The Guardian, Rogen admitted that he knew it was a ‘fucked up' idea.
He said:
People like to project their emotions on to the things around them their toys, their cars, their pets So we thought: ‘What would it be like if our food had feelings?' We very quickly realized that it would be fucked up.
He's not wrong and the film has a lot of fun with the idea of sentient food, portraying meal times as a hideous torture that food endures before being devoured by their dark gods.

A particular highlight for me was the Saving Private Ryan style gore, which looks hilariously dark, especially the poor pot of noodles trying to scoop his guts (noodles) back into his pot.
The adult animation stars Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Edward Norton, Nick Kroll, Michael Cera, James Franco, Bill Hader and, of course, Seth Rogen.
Sausage Party opens in cinemas on September 2.
