Moviegoers first came under the Sweet Transvestite’s spell on August 14, 1975 — the musical comedy has since become a cult classic with midnight screenings delighting audiences nationwide on a weekly basis.
‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ See The Cast Then And Now
#1 We know you’re shivering with antici… pation, so let’s see what the cast is up to all these many years later!
#2 Tim Curry
Tim, now 69, may be most famous as Rocky Horror's Dr. Frank N Furter, but he also starred in movies like Legend, Clue, Muppet Treasure Island, and Charlie's Angels.
In 2005, he returned to Broadway one of the original cast members of the hit musical Spamalot, co-starring with Hank Azaria and future Grey's Anatomy star Sara Ramirez and earning a Tony nomination in the process!
We're sad to report that Tim suffered a stroke in July 2012, but he recently hit the red carpet again this June to accept the the Actors Fund's Lifetime Achievement Award.
#3 Susan Sarandon
Of all the Rocky Horror alums, the actress behind Janet may be the most visible especially with five Oscar nominations under her belt, including one win. Since Rocky, Susan's star continued to rise with well-received roles in Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking, and The Client. More recently, she starred in Cloud Atlas, The Big Wedding, and Tammy.
The 68-year-old is also famous for her devotion to political activism with causes including world peace, LGBT acceptance, and environmentalism. (Dammit, Janet that's cool!)
As for her personal life, Susan dated Tim Robbins for over twenty years, and she has three kids, including actress Eva Amurri.
#4 Barry Bostwick
In the 40 years since playing Brad, Susan's Rocky Horror fiancé, Barry's biggest role was that of Mayor Mike Flaherty in the ABC sitcom Spin City. In recent years, he guest starred in Scandal, Masters of Sex, New Girl, and CSI and he joined Meat Loaf in the Rocky Horror-themed episode of Glee. The 70-year-old is also a prostate cancer survivor.
#5 Richard O’Brien
If you love the music of Rocky Horror, you can thank Richard: The actor behind handyman Riff Raff actually wrote the musical on which the film is based, and he co-wrote the screenplay. After the movie, Richard hosted the hit British game show The Crystal Maze.
The 73-year-old recently told BBC News that he identifies as 70 percent male, 30 percent female, saying, "You can't just put the lid on things and pretend that they don't exist."
#6 Meat Loaf
Meat Loaf, born Marvin Lee Aday, played doomed delivery boy Eddie in Rocky Horror right around the time his rock career started taking off. In total, he has sold over 80 million records, just as many as Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. An active actor, the 68-year-old had notable roles in Fight Club and Spice World.
#7 Peter Hinwood
The muscled model who filled out Rocky Horror's famous gold shorts, Peter Hinwood is now an antiques dealer in London with only one post-Rocky credit on his filmography: the 1976 homoerotic drama Sebastiane. There aren't any recent photos of him publicly available, but those gold short are yours for the viewing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando!
