Reboot

Yes, it is time for a reboot of one of our favorite classics, The Greatest American Hero. Like many other reboots, I have mixed feelings about this one as it will not be exactly like the show I grew up watching.

That theme song

In the early 80s, before the Marvel universe pretty much took over our TV and movies, we had The Greatest American Hero. It was 44 episodes long and plenty entertaining. It also had a theme song that could get stuck in your head for days.

The original

The original series revolved around Ralph Kinley who was played by William Kat. He was a school teacher who ended up with superhuman abilities after some aliens gave him a red and black super suit. Now this comedic show is making a comeback, but it will have a twist that you probably did not expect.

The Twist

ABC has ordered a reboot of this classic show after three decades of it being off the air. This new series will star Nahnatchka Khan from Fresh Off The Boat. Instead of the show centering around Ralph, it will be led by Meera who is a 30-year-old woman who loves karaoke and tequila.

Unexpected

Meera spends her whole life looking and failing to find the meaning of life, much to her Indian-American family's disapproval. Something unexpected happens to Meera, and she ends up being entrusted with the super suit and the responsibility of protecting the planet that comes along with it.

Rachna Fruchbom who is the writer for Parks and Recreation and Fresh Off The Boat will write and executive produce the project.

This is not the first time that a network tried to bring this show back. In 2014, FOX tried to develop a reboot of The Greatest American Hero, but the show never made it to air.

Hopefully, ABC will be luckier than FOX and get the show off the ground. Time will tell. Are you excited to see this show brought back?
