#1 The JFK Assassination

There are so many take son this murder and just as many conspiracy theories, but yet it is still one of the greatest American unsolved mysteries. Did Lee Harvey Oswald actually commit the crime? Were the Russians responsible? Fidel Castro? There are even rumors accusing the CIA of the assassination. We may never truly have an answer who was responsible for the death of JFK. Though Oswald was later killed, he remains the named murderer of the President, but so many of the theories are plausible that it's hard to determine now with so much 'cover-up' after all these years.

#2 Black Dahlia Murder

There's never been a shortage of suspects in the Black Dahlia murder, but police have never been able to pin the crime on any of them. After the mutilated body of 22-year-old Elizabeth Short, cut in half at the waist and drained of blood, was found in a vacant Los Angeles lot in 1947, dozens of people confessed to killing the woman who newspapers dubbed "the Black Dahlia." The dozens of confessions grew to over 500 over the years, with no real evidence of clues. There was never an arrest for Short's murder and all those linked to this gruesome event are now dead. We perhaps may never know who killed Elizabeth.

#3 Disappearance Of Flight MA370

A disaster that has the world baffled, the whereabouts of Malaysian Airlines flight MA370 is a modern unsolved mystery. The airplane went missing in March 2014, sparking international intrigue because there were no signals or artifacts located, including the black box. A multi-national search of the Indian Ocean was unable to locate the missing plane and the signal disappeared quickly, halting any search efforts. However, some debris from the plane washed ashore the coast of Africa. What happened to MA370 remains a mystery that puzzles millions.

The stuff that movies are made of. The serial killer known as Jack the Ripper was active during late 19th century London. It's believed the murderer was responsible for up to 20 gruesome killings during a short 3-year time frame. Numerous theories exist concerning the identity of Jack the Ripper, with books being published on the topic, including several theories that Jack was actually a woman. However, the mystery of this serial killer remains unsolved even though there have been several copycat killers over the last century.

#5 The Zodiac Killer

He may be dead now himself or in jail for another crime, but as of this date, the Zodiac Killer has not been discovered. The Zodiac Killer terrorized San Fransico from the late 1960s and into the 1970s. This murderer is notorious for sending letters to the media and police, openly mocking their attempts to capture him. While six murders are officially credited to the Zodiac, numerous other individuals murdered during this time period could have been at his hands. No one was ever arrested or charged with these killings though there have been many men accused, without any hard evidence.

#6 Jon Benet Ramsey Murder

It began on Christmas in 1996 and the case of Jon Benet is still one of the strangest unsolved murders in history. With a few key suspects already deceased, and so much mishandling of evidence, we may never know the truth behind this gruesome murder of this 6-year-old little beauty queen. Her brother has recently sued CBS-TV for their broadcast of a docudrama naming him as the killer of his sister. Over 20 years later, the murderer of Jon-Benet Ramsey has yet to be found.

#7 Stonehenge

One of mankind's biggest unsolved mysteries, often associated with UFOs and aliens from the past. Stonehenge is said to be over 4,000 years old, yet that fact creates more questions than answers. These gigantic stones are in an exact geometric shape in the region that is now Southern England. Where did the stones originate? How were they placed with such precision? How were the stones lifted? Many believe that beings from another universe once inhabited Earth and built the rock structure as a meeting place or landing area for spacecraft. The theories are as endless as the rocks are old. But these questions have puzzled many for hundreds of years.

#8 Bermuda Traingle

The Bermuda Triangle is a triangle of coordinates near the Bermuda Islands in the Caribbean Sea. Within these coordinates, numerous ships throughout the centuries have either disappeared or lost all radio signal. Some believe that storms are the cause of these crashes and radio disturbances, but that doesn't explain the high frequency of problems in the area. Planes have gone down without ever sending out distress signals, and satellite imagery of the area often shows unusual occurrences though it is often blamed on the weather.

The town of Taos, in north-central New Mexico, has been home to many famous residents including Julia Roberts, Dennis Hopper, D.H. Lawrence, and Donald Rumsfeld. It's a small, laid-back artsy community for the wealthy that is also home to an unusual mystery: a resident hum of unknown origin, the so-called "Taos Hum." The Taos Hum is an elusive and unexplained low-frequency humming noise heard by many residents at night. While the government has brushed the hum off as nothing more than hysteria, the noise can be heard 16-20 nights each month, and residents believe it is either the government conducting experiments or alien in nature.

#10 Lost Colony Of Roanoke

The city that just disappeared. While the conditions in the 16th century were much different, the lost Roanoke Colony remains an intriguing story. When founders returned from England to their settlement, the entire city, homes and all, were gone. Numerous rumors surround the fate of the 115 colonists at Roanoke. Could they have been murdered? Did they leave due to harsh weather? They could have even decided to integrate with the Native Americans. Nobody has a definitive answer of what happened to the colony.

He's been spotted everywhere, and by everywhere, we mean from Appalachia to the wilds of Alaska. However, nothing ever proves to be fact, and the mysterious being remains hidden, though many wonder if he is the missing link. The stories surrounding Sasquatch (better known as Bigfoot), have been around in one form or another since North America was settled by Native Americans. Over the past one hundred years, multiple accounts of sightings of these large ape men have circulated through the media. The Patterson-Gimlin film strip is the main piece of evidence that has yet to be proven as fake, yet many remain skeptical.

#12 Escape From Alcatraz

You've seen all the movies about the prison and how it is basically impossible to escape from. However, in June 1962, what many considered the impossible happened. Three men managed to escape from the Alcatraz prison off the coast of California. However, that's not where the story ends. While authorities claimed the prisoners drowned while swimming the San Fransisco Bay, no bodies were ever found. Prison officials suggested that they became food for sharks or some other deep sea creatures. Later studies have suggested that the prisoners could have survived their escape attempt and several planes reported of life on a small island 100 miles to the West of the prison. However, the mystery of their fate remains.

Unidentified and unsolved, the Big Ear radio telescope received an unidentified deep space transmission in the summer of 1977. The 72-second transmission originated from the Sagittarius constellation. The Wow! signal remains the best evidence for intelligent life in space. To this day there is no explanation for the meaning of the transmission or what sent it. Because of the time period and technological advances, other devices have tried to pick up a signal from the constellation over the years but nothing has ever been received.

One of the most bizarre murders in history took place in 1922 Bavaria when six individuals were slaughtered with an axe. A former maid at the farm quit due to fearing it was haunted, and the murderer was never arrested. Many believe a ghost did kill those at the farm.
