The steam shooting out of Tin Man's cap was so startling, Toto actually ran off. How could you blame her? She was a real dog!

#3 Scarecrow Was Left With Scars

Roy Bolger, who played Scarecrow, in the classic movie, was left with scars for the whole year, after filming was over. The facial prosthetics must have been really sealed onto his face.

#4 Tin Man Was Oozing Chocolate

Rather than using real oil for Tin Man, they used chocolate. It still gave the oily effect and looked better on screen.

#5 Wizard Of Oz Family Tree

Liza Minelli, the daughter of Judy Garland, who played Dorothy and Jack Haley, Jr., the son of Jack Haley, who played Tin Man, went on to get married. Talk about "keeping it in the family".

#6 The Dress Was Pink

Dorothy's dress was actually pink. It may appear white, but the movie was shot in Technicolour. Pink was an easier color to shoot.

Margaret Hamilton, who played The Wicked Witch, wore toxic makeup throughout the whole duration of filming. Therefore, she kept an almost entire liquid diet, the whole time.
