Luiz said he felt like he could fall off at any time as he hung off the ledge 300ft over the ocean

This is the terrifying moment an adrenaline junkie used only his feet to hang upside down off a cliff edge in Brazil.

The stomach-churning picture shows Luiz Fernando Candeia dangling off a ledge at Pedra Da Tartaruga, without any safety gear or protection.

Candeia, a 27-year-old riot police officer from Rio de Janeiro, asked a friend to use rope to lower him into position some 300ft above the sea.

Luiz, a 27-year-old riot police officer from Rio de Janeiro, said he stayed in the position unaided before being helped back up for a friend

Luiz demonstrated unbelievable core strength to maintain the nail-biting position no strings attached, a nerve-wracking 300ft above the sea.

Luiz said: 'I got into the position using rope and then pulled myself up without it to stay in that position unaided.

'I was really scared about the rope breaking when I was getting into position.

'It even made me feel a little sick due to both the height I was at and my sudden fear of losing focus and strength.

'It was one of the few times that I was genuinely afraid of falling, to tell the truth.

'Even when I was holding onto the rope, it felt strange - like I could fall at any time.'

Luiz said the stunt required a lot of strength and his friend eventually helped him climb back up.

'Because it was such a difficult photo to take, I'm really proud of hanging like that successfully and surviving!,' he said.

The Rio police officer's amazing stunt comes after this fake photo appeared to show a man using his feet to cling on to a rock and do a sit up
