The devoted dad says he's missing the normal father-son moments. "I miss that time with Sam and that closeness an awful lot, it's the one thing I think that gets to me the most."

He can still vividly recall his son's expression of horror when he saw his dad after the coma for the first time.

"I think if I was a three-and-a-half-year-old and I was looking at my father in this condition, then I would find it very very odd and very strange."

His partner Lucy Townsend has not left his side: "I absolutely love him, it's the first time I've ever loved anybody as much as I love him."

Despite these gruesome events, Lewis is grateful that he got given a second chance at life. He's now hoping to recover as much as possible.
