Most of us are well aware that squeezing spots carries the risk of infection but nonetheless, temptation kicks in and we take the risk anyway.

Chances are you’ve popped a pimple at some point but according to one woman you should resist the urge - not because it’s gross or will leave unsightly scarring, but because it could actually kill you.

#2 Katie Wright experienced a horrifying incident that will haunt every beauty lover.

The 21-year-old felt a pimple forming near her eyebrow so she went to pop it. Popping zits is hugely frowned upon, but everyone does it even though they know it’s bad for your skin.

When she popped the zit she started experiencing immense pain and her face swelled. She said in a Facebook post that “It felt like something was going to burst out of my skin.”

She immediately went to the ER, where she found out the wound wasn't a zit at all.

"They said it was a very serious case of Cellulitis, which is a version of a Staph infection," she explained. "It affects the deep cellular tissues with no main source to attack."

The doctors told her that if she had let the infection go untreated for much longer, there was a high risk of it spreading to her brain or eyes, which could have caused her to go blind or even killed her.

While the young woman says she’s usually ‘super strict’ about washing her brushes, she confessed that she believes the infection was caused by a dirty eyebrow brush.

Now, she’s warning others to clean their make-up tools regularly and avoid squeezing spots where possible.

“If you wear make up PLEASE make that a step in your cleaning routine,” she wrote.

“It's a small thing to do to avoid a painful, expensive and traumatising infection on your face.”
