#3 Living In Hotels For Over Six Months

The family of three jumped from hotel to hotel during a six-week period following the tragedy, with their two dogs, as they awaited information from the insurance company on money to begin rebuilding their dream home. Miss Diaz said it was tiring but she "could wait as long as it takes to get into a nice new home."

#4 The Lost Almost Everything

They lost all of their personal items as well as many meaningful family things in the storm, but the basic structure of the home was still intact. This meant that the family could move back in after a few months of construction and hotel living. Several pieces of the home that survived the storm stored in a back room of the house, including a sink, water heater, and vanity. They had hoped to use these things again to help cut down on reconstruction costs.

They were supposed to demolish Nancy Jenkins' home on Cousteau Drive, which was also destroyed in the tornado. Instead, they demolished Diaz's home which was about two blocks away.

#7 A $200,000 Loss With No Apology

The company CEO, George Gomez, told WFAA that the crew assigned to the project realized they made a mistake after they tore down the home. He added the situation is "not a big deal." However, they also tore down the correct home belonging to Nancy Jenkins.

"I'd like them to come out and say ‘I'm sorry. It was our mistake. We're going to fix this. We'll build you a new house.'" Miss Diad said. "But with a big corporation like that, I doubt it'll happen."

The house and property were valued by the insurance company and police at $200,000. The demolition company is not responding to further questions on the devastating mishap.
