A TikToker decided to step into a dark web chat room so you wouldn’t have to...
Some things in life might be better-left unknown, and one TikToker learned this lesson the hard way.
The dark web often spoken about in hushed tones, like some urban legend among high school friends - is not just a myth. It is authentic.
One TikToker, out of curiosity, decided to explore it. But once he got there, he probably wished he hadn't. So, consider this a warning from him.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, the dark web is a part of the internet that isn't regulated and isn’t easily accessible. Unlike regular websites, it requires a special browser to even enter.
Beyond being difficult to access, it is notorious for being a hotspot for all kinds of illegal activities, including drug trade, human trafficking, and disturbing content.
TikToker Austinvro decided to dip his toes into this hidden corner of the internet, sharing his findings with over four million followers. What he uncovered was unsettling.
In his viral video, he explored chatrooms on the dark web, looking for ones that randomly connect strangers—similar to what used to be available on mainstream sites like Omegle before it was shut down.
Before even entering a chat, he noticed something chilling. The site offered access to so-called ‘red rooms’—which he described as live-streamed sessions where viewers could pay to watch horrific acts of torture and humiliation.
Once he finally entered a chatroom, things quickly took a dark turn. After simply saying hello, another anonymous user responded with a disturbing message, stating that they were ‘looking for fun rp chat with my daughters’.
However, not everyone was convinced by Austinvro’s claims. Many social media users were skeptical of the legitimacy of his video.
In this context, ‘RP’ likely referred to role-playing—making the message all the more unsettling.
Another person in the chat claimed to be ‘f25 into roleplaying as younger,’ which carried similarly uncomfortable implications.
At this point, the TikToker had seen enough and didn’t hold back, calling these individuals ‘disgusting people’ in response.
Some pointed out that ‘red rooms’ are nearly impossible to find unless one is personally invited, and even then, they are often elaborate scams or traps set up by law enforcement.
Others questioned the speed at which he was able to access the dark web, suggesting that it typically takes much longer than what was shown in the video.
They also argued that if his content were truly exposing the dark web, the platform might have already removed his video.
So, while his experience is certainly chilling, it might be best to take his claims with a grain of salt.
