Utility Worker Who Dove Into Sewer To Fix Broken Pipe Goes Viral

One man was so determined to fix a burst pipe outside of a home in Fort Worth, Texas, that he dove into the muddy water head-first.

#2 He Dove Into The Murky Water

The homeowner, Andrea Adams, was overwhelmed at the worker's dedication and took a photo of Jimmie Cox jumping into the murky abyss. The Granbury, Texas, utility worker was photographed face down in a puddle of muddy water.

#3 She Had Called To Report The Leak

Adams said she called Acton Municipal Utility District on to report a leak coming from a pipe running under her front lawn that was causing quite a bit of damage and was filling the street with water.

#4 Dedicated Worker Jimmie Cox Showed Up

Cox showed up and quickly began digging down through the turf in order to locate a one-inch pipe that had burst below the ground. Adams said she walked into her house as Cox was working, and when she came back out she saw him submerged as he reached down into over five feet of dirty water in order to clamp the line.

#5 Her Husband Wouldn't Believe It Without proof

Adams said that she had to show her husband how amazing this workman was since he wouldn't believe it without a picture. Cox was submerged all the way down to his waist in the filthy water. The photo has since gone viral with talk of Cox going "above and beyond the call of duty."

#6 The Photo Went Viral Quickly

After snapping the photograph of Cox, she posted it to her Facebook account. Within hours it was already being shared worldwide. Cox is equally astounded by the attention the image is garnering, though says diving into flooded lawns is nothing new in his line of work.

#7 He Is Interviewed By Inside Edition

"You basically start holding your breath and if stuff starts going up your nose that is too bad," Cox told Inside Edition, who put him in touch with a guy who knows a thing or two about "dirty jobs" TV personality Mike Rowe who formerly hosted the Dirty Jobs TV show and now stars on 'Somebody's Gotta Do It'.

Rowe joked with Cox for a fewe minutes before asking him if the water was sewage or just a broken water pipe. They both laughed when Cox admitted it wasn't raw sewage, and that if it was he may have needed to call in the expert in that area. Rowe asked the viral sensation to come on his show in the future with a few stories about his work.

#9 Free Wrangler Jeans

Since the photo went viral on social media, it caught the attention of somebody else as well. Cox is wearing Wrangler jeans in the picture, something he does every day. Amazed at Cox's dedication and work ethic, Wrangler surprised Cox with a lifetime supply of free Wrangler jeans just like the kind he is seen wearing in the photo.

He did manage to stop the leak in all of that muck, with Adams saying she is 'proud' of the amount of effort he put in.
