Thirteen siblings have been found chained to beds in a Calfornia house where the horrible parents had held their own children captive. The terrifying incident came to an end when one of the thirteen innocents (17-year-old girl) demonstrated huge courage by putting her own life at risk.

Thirteen siblings were found chained to beds in dark at a residence in Perris, California. According to the police, all the children were held captive and none was allowed to leave the house. The neighbours had never seen the children out in daylight and many did not even have any idea about the children's existence in the weird house. "I had no idea this was going on. I didn't know there were kids in the house," a neighbour called Andrew Santillan told.

It turned out that the young ones were being tortured by their own parents. David Allen Turpin and Louise Anna Turpin did not give enough food to their kids and thus the neighbours had witnessed them scavenging bins at night. The misery ended when one of the thirteen siblings (a 17-year-old girl) gathered the courage to face the horrifying situation and was finally able to escape the deadly place.

Reportedly, the girl had stolen a phone before running from the Turpins and had called the police. She told the officials about her 13 siblings held captive at the house and that some of them were even chained to the beds. The malnourished girl looked so small that the police at first believed her to be 10 years old. Officials released a statement regarding the incident on 15 January. "The California couple has been arrested after authorities found a dozen malnourished siblings held captive in their home, some shackled in the dark to their beds with chains and padlocks," it said.

When neighbours were asked about the incident, it appeared that the couple often behaved strangely and could only be seen at night. Their paleness reminded many of the vampires. “They only came out at night. They were really, really pale,” freaked out neighbour Andrea Valdez said.

Another thing that concerns most is the age of the children and that seven of them are adults (the eldest being 29 years old). Taking strict action against the horrible parents, the police has put the two in jail and has charged them with $9 million bails. All thirteen victims are being held under medical observation and are being provided with proper food so as the siblings can recover from malnutrition.
