What Is The Reason Behind Johnny Depp And Vanessa Paradis's Break Up?

Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp were in a relationship for a long time, however, their marriage of 14 years came to an end and broke the hearts of their fans. Now, with the recent Depp-Heard trial, one wonders what went wrong with their marriage?

Both of them didn't comment directly on the reason behind their separation, however, Paradis did hint that she was “unhappy” in their relationship for some time. “Nothing is ever for sure, but when something in love doesn’t work from the beginning, it’s never going to work,” she said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

“Don’t push it. Sometimes you could be in an unhappy relationship; you are very much in love with someone, but it’s making you unhappy and you think things can change and you can work it out.”

However, the personal details of Depp and Heard's relationship have been playing out in court and the world knows each and every tiny detail of their toxic relationship.

Depp recounted a scene he filmed with Heard in 2009 for The Rum Diary: “During the scene in the shower, where we kissed, I felt something I shouldn’t have, because at that time she had her partner and I had Vanessa. It all started with that kiss in the shower.” However, it wasn’t until 2012 that the pair were first linked publicly following Depp’s breakup with Paradis.

Vanessa Paradis has spoken out about the ongoing court case between Depp and Heard. She stated that: “From my personal experience of many years, I can say he was never violent or abusive to me.”

Meanwhile, Heard continues to defend her op-ed on domestic violence, where she has told the court about details of the violence she suffered during their time together. 

Johnny Depp claims that he was the victim of abuse in the relationship and that Heard attacked him on several occasions. He says he only stayed in the marriage “because my father stayed” in his.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were married for 15 months before Heard filed for divorce, which was finalised in May 2016. Depp agreed to pay Heard “in the region of $8 million” to settle.

At the time, Depp greeted the news of the divorce with a terse public statement: “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip […] and lies about his personal life.”

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis do appear on cordial terms as parents of Lily-Rose. However, it will be interesting to know when the real reason behind their divorce will be revealed.
