Ugh. A tip for everyone out there: It's recommended to leave the skin on for fresh blisters, but for older ones, it's better to remove it and disinfect the area to prevent infection. Good to know!

If you have fresh blister, no skin to be broken as it provides sterile atmosphere inside, no bacteria can contaminate inside. But if the fluid is contaminated, looking like pus or old blister is there you can drain it. But if a fresh blister is drained you must keep the skin intact, but if you suspect infection beneath skin, you should remove the skin and then apply povidine iodine solution over it and do the dressing.
