A woman is being praised by the Police for shooting a man who opened fire at a group of 40 people last week. Even though the woman has not been named, it has been reported that the man named Dennis Butler opened fire at a birthday party in Charleston, West Virginia. The Police have revealed that Butler has a history of crimes and he used an AR-15-type rifle during the recent attack.

Police are impressed by the brave woman who shot the 37-year-old Butler, saving many lives on the spot.

The spokesperson for the Charleston Police department, Tony Hazelett shared that the courageous woman almost certainly 'saved several lives' that day.

"We quickly learned that the victim turned into a gunman. She's just a member of the community who was carrying her weapon lawfully. And instead of running from the threat, she engaged with the threat and saved several lives." he added at a press conference.

Mr. Hazelett also shared that the 37-year-old gunman had been told to slow down while driving through the area, where a group of kids was playing at the party that day.

The spokesperson told the media that after leaving the scene, Butler returned later with a semi-automatic rifle and shot into the crowd. However, the woman pulled out her own pistol and fired back, killing him.

It has been confirmed that the woman (who used the weapon at the party) would not face any charges for the incident.

The case is being reviewed currently and the incident is still under study by Kanawha County Prosecutor’s office.

It is also under investigation as to how the rifle was in Mr. Butler's possession as according to the official records, he was not allowed to own any kind of gun, and was also wanted on charges of handling stolen goods from earlier this year.
