This plus-sized influencer shared a video of an incident where another woman walked up to her to mock her for filming herself and laughing as she continued to work out.
Bethy Red is an influencer who usually posts about plus-sized fashion, working out, and fitness tips. She has gained some popularity on her social media platforms including TikTok.
This video is from an incident that occurred when Bethy was recording herself working out for her blog.
Bethy is quietly working out with the camera focused on her when a woman, who is blocked with the white square approaches her.
"Girl what are you doing?" She asks in a condescending voice.
"Are you taking videos of yourself?"
To this Bethy simply says, "yah?"
She repeats in a slightly surprised tone, "You are!?"
Bethy once again, politely confirms, "Yes?"
"Well why?", she continues to ask condescendingly.
"For your own documentation or what?" implying that no one else would want to watch Bethy's content.
Bethy responds, "for my blog..."
At this point, the woman just rudely laughs at Bethy's response.
"Well have fun.", she says before finally leaving Bethy to her workout.
"Thanks", Bethy responded.
Comments showing support for Bethy quickly started pouring in.
Some pointed out that this was just internalized misogyny.
Most were just annoyed by the woman's condescending tone.
Some users however started demanding that Bethy remove the white block and reveal the identity of the woman.
They didn't think this woman's identity should have been protected and things started to spiral out of hand.
As people started trying to speculate who the woman could be, they started sending death threats to potential suspects and doxxing them. This is when Bethy had to make another video trying to diffuse the situation and tell people not to resort to extreme measures.
"PLEASE!! Stop looking for the person!! A lot of innocent people are getting death treats and hate message for nothing! Thank you for the support&loveðŸ¤", she said in the caption.
“I didn’t reveal [the identity] to make justice for myself. I didn’t know TikTok was this intense, and when people said ‘pull up’ and ‘beat her up,’ I thought people were joking.”
“somebody is mean to you, for whatever reason, show empathy and show kindness.”
