Woman Wakes Up Finding Her Husband Dead After Sending Him To The Sofa

Mother-of-three Ashley Murrell, 33, had a heated argument with her husband Mikey, 36, when he returned home late from a 16-hour shift as she was worried he was running himself into the ground.

On the night of May 16, Ashley, who is a beauty therapist, told Mikey to sleep on the sofa to get some rest

Unfortunately, when she woke up, she found out that her husband had passed away.

A friend told the Sun Online: 'Chris and Ashley have been through so much but they have really been there for each other.

'It's strange how from something so awful, something good can happen. They are really happy together.'

Neighbors heard Murrell’s screams and luckily came to her aid before she passed out. When Murrell woke up from what she thought was a nightmare, she was forced to endure the shock once again when paramedics confirmed her biggest fears. Her husband was officially dead.

”When the ambulance came and they confirmed he was dead I collapsed onto the floor and I was sick. Nothing made sense. I felt so guilty. I was so angry with myself for making him sleep on the sofa. I still find it so hard to think that my last words to him were out of anger,” said Murrell, as reported by the Daily Mail UK.

Daily Mail reports that the post-mortem revealed Mikey to have choked himself to death while sleeping. But as far as the root cause was concerned, it was deemed inconclusive. It was indeed a tragic moment for Ashley and her kids.

She later found out that her husband was actually working rigorously as a carpet cleaner in order to save money and take her to Prague. He planned to celebrate their wedding anniversary, which would have been on July 3. Contrary to Ashley’s belief, Mikey was simply saving up for her.

Mrs. Murrell has nothing but wonderful comments to say about her husband. She remembered how caring Mikey was, most especially to the kids. If he saw someone unhappy, he would try his best to make that person happy. Ashley went to say how a loving father Mikey was and how he wanted to provide “all the things in life” for their kids.

”Some days are easier than others and I think I'm doing OK but then a day comes along where every little thing is a reminder. The other day I was driving along and the kids were singing in the back and it was all so happy but then I just started having flashbacks about finding him. It's going to be like that for a while,” a devastated Murrell told the Daily Mail UK.

Ashley revealed how Mikey would pursue 16-hour shifts, seven days a week just to make sure that he was able to take them to Disney every year. And although he would go home totally worn out, he would still, have the time and strength to bond with the kids.

Mrs. Murrell understood the consequences of working too much and thus she decided to confront her husband about it. Unfortunately, the discussion turned into a little fight, but still, Mikey would insist on working said shifts.

On that night, after seeing him so exhausted and a complete “mess,” she decided to let him sleep on the sofa instead. Ashley admitted that it was kind of a stupid, but she simply wanted him to be around more often. She did not realize that that would be the last time he would see her husband sleeping — on the sofa.

She said: 'When I came out of the bedroom and saw him the next morning I knew something was wrong straight away. He was lying exactly where I left him and his face was all discolored - he looked gray.

Interestingly, Ashley has now emerged to be in a steady relationship with Chris, who is actually the brother of Mikey. She explained that she found strength — and gradually developed feelings — from him, who was there during her grief and sorrow.

Unsurprisingly, the couple has faced a lot of backlash from people who think it’s wrong that Murrell has moved on to Chris. Those close to her, however, say Chris has given her the support she needs. It’s only until recently that they came out publicly as a couple.

Murrell confesses some days are harder than others, and explaining the death to her twins wasn't easy. But fortunately, with the help of Chris and her family, she’ll be able to move on.
