Woman With Toe Deformity Has It Amputated After Years of pain and ‘psychological damage’.
#1 A Toe Deformity
A woman with a toe deformity finally decided to undergo surgery to have it removed following years of ‘psychological damage'.
#2 A Bone Condition
Chrystal, from Columbia, South Carolina, has brachymetatarsia, a bone condition which means one of her toes is shorter than the rest, and in her case positioned above the others so it looks like an extra toe.
#3 X-Ray Before Surgery
Appearing on E!'s Botched By Nature, Chrystal got emotional as she revealed she has suffered years of teasing, hates to wear open toed shoes and also hates going anywhere like the beach.
She also says the condition causes her lots of pain.
She has undergone surgery before on one foot but the procedure left it in a worse condition.
When Botched doctor Dr. Dubrow meets with her and suggests amputating the toe, Chrystal is unsure and is worried it will fail like the previous time.
Chrystal eventually agrees to the surgery after Dr. Dubrow brings in an orthopedic surgeon to discuss the benefits of the amputation.
#4 Before And After
After having it amputated, she is left happier but with only four toes left.
'I've wanted this for years,' Chrystal she says. 'It's like a second chance and a lot of people don't get that so I am grateful.'
#5 Pedicure For The First Time
Six weeks after a successful surgery, Chrystal feels confident enough to go and have a pedicure for the first time.
The experience is a triumph and Chrystal says it will be 'the first of many'.
