Living in a remote Brazilian village, Joao Coelho de Souza is reportedly 131 years old, which would not only make him the oldest living person alive now, but also the longest living person ever. (The record is currently held by Jeanne Calment, who died aged 122 in 1997.)

He lives with his 16-year-old granddaughter and 62-year-old wife, which raises a few questions. Like, when did they meet!? When he was 100 and she was 31!? Seriously, he must be one smooth silver fox.

Brazilian officials have shared a photo of Joao's birth certificate, confirming that he was indeed born in 1884. And his daughter (who is 30, so born when her dad was 101) has confirmed her father's age:

"You hear everything, people that criticise and say it's a lie and others that admire the fact someone can live so long. It sometimes offends me because everything is documented and the documents have already been examined by experts at to see if they'd been falsified and nothing abnormal was found."

She also revealed that he had been with her mum for over 40 years, which answers our questions on when they met. He must have been in his 90s, and her in her 20s.

Just let it sink in for a minute that Joao was 90, 40 years ago
