Woman’s decision to put down her ‘pandemic dog’ sparked an online debate where people think she could have trained the dog further and managed his behavioural issues.
Writer Sparks Outrage After She Reveals She Put Down Her ‘pandemic dog’
Bilis’s ‘pandemic dog’ as she called it had an issue with biting and attacking people, including her.
Even after working with a trainer, the dog’s problems only seemed to increase.
After these revelations, many pet lovers criticized her for not taking the time to help the six-year-old dog.
Bonnie the beagle was just one in a chain of puppies who were adopted during the pandemic out of boredom. One user Liam pointed out that ‘influencers’ or ‘blue checks’, were the only ones sympathizing with her and had in fact done the same.
While there is no way of telling how bad Bonnie’s behavior was, Bilis maintains that shelters wouldn’t take the puppy due to her extreme issues.
People also pointed out that this may be due to shelters being overloaded as a result of similar behavior.
A user Justin shared his own experience of how he worked with a puppy for years rather than months to help it out of its issues.
Nikki revealed that it is often humans that trigger these issues in puppies and that training should have been coupled with changed behavior on their end as well
Another pointed out that its often owners that cause the behavior problems rather than them being inherent in the pets.
This user was shocked that the dog only got 6 months which was barely a chance.
Michael Drury summarized the situation in the most succinct manner.
Not all were against Bilis though and sympathized with her.
